The Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th century was a reaction to the design excesses and mass production of the industrial age. This era emphasized design that was simple, hand-crafted and true to the nature of the materials from which it was made. The creative influences of designers and artisans such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Gustav Stickley, and Louis Comfort Tiffany established an American art form which embraced organic architecture. The movement also included hand-crafted furnishings and fine lighting, united in harmonious style that encouraged a simpler lifestyle and a return to basics.
In the late 1980's a Pasadena artisan believed that the time had come again to embrace the design and lifestyle promoted by the Arts and Crafts movement and created what became Arroyo Craftsman. As the company has grown and expanded its offerings, it nonetheless stays true to its heritage. Arroyo Craftsman can now be found in scores of architectural landmarks such as The Gamble House, Frank Lloyd Wright homes, and The Grove Park Inn here in North Carolina. More than anything, Arroyo Craftsman Lighting allows the customer to design a lighting fixture to perfectly match his or her décor and individual preferences. As they say, "It’s your home and we allow you to it make it your lighting. Arroyo Craftsman allows you to be the designer."

The Mark of Quality:
Arroyo Craftsman takes tremendous pride in their attention to detail, hand-finishing, and quality. Because of that, and an extensive variety of choices in metal finish and glass combinations, Arroyo offers the finest quality and greatest selection in Arts and Crafts inspired lighting available.
The beauty of an Arroyo product is more than just skin deep. Arroyo Craftsman fixtures are made of heavier gauge brass than is common, giving each product a more substantial appearance and increased durability. The rivets used on many of the Arroyo Craftsman fixtures provice both beauty and additional structural integrity. Arroyo Craftsman glass panels are installed with both retaining clips and silicone to ensure that they are secured and won't rattle in the wind. The beautiful hand applied finishes are the best in the industry because Arroyo Craftsman takes the time to let the finish "mature". The unique verdigris patina is the result of an intensive three day process resulting in a complex and naturally aged appearance. All of the hand applied metal finishes will continue to mature and change time.
Care Instructions:
The metal and glass components of Arroyo Craftsman products should be cleaned using warm water and a soft cloth. Please refrain from using soaps or glass cleaners as some of their ingredients may damage the glass or metal finish. The raw copper and mission brown finishes are not lacquered and therefore are sensitive to the natural oils produced by the skin. Handling these finishes with exposed skin may affect the appearance, because of this we recommend using gloves when handling items in these finishes. Most of Arroyo Craftsman’s metal finishes are naturally oxidized and will continue to change and mature with age. This process can be slowed, but not completely prevented, by applying a clear paste wax to the metal components of the item. We do not recommend using paste wax on raw copper or mission brown because it may damage the finish
Arroyo Craftsman offers eight glass and two mica choices. Combine these with a selection from one of the eleven metal finishes to create the fixture that meets your personal needs.
